The Rise and Fall of the X-Men
Posted on Tue, 14-Jun-2005

Aint it Cool has snagged a first-hand account of the forthcoming "X-Men 3",
courtesy an insider who has got his gloves on the frosty screenplay of the
next nifty money-spinner.

Based on what's said, I've gotta say, this one sounds like it's going to be
a twister-esque blow for the franchise. It so needs Bryan Singer to steer
it. If anything, it'll be mediocre to good, at best. The film will no doubt
have it's moments, but there's some untasty chunky bits to swallow too.

Among the spoilers (that's your cue to turn away now, the Caps Lock key is
too far to reach, so I'm skipping a bold warning) the report spills are :
The deaths of two major characters (one of them, Cyclops, played by James
Marsden - who will die at the hands of the resurrected Jean Grey), a
romantic sub-plot for Wovlerine and Storm, a new leader role for Storm - no
doubt streaming from Halle Berry's demands for a bigger part in the series,
a love triangle involving Rogue, Iceman and Kitty Pryde, Mystique being
transformed into a human and a note that Wolverine has jack-all to do in
this film.

"Wolverine feels like he's been neutered (or is it just pussy-whipped by
Storm?), and really doesn't do much except hang out with Storm the whole
time - not the best use of the most well-known X-Man around", says the
scooper.

"Is this a case of your equipment malfunctioning? Have you been suffering
from some premature pyro? Hey Silent Bob, you can say anything anytime.
Hello? Maybe I'll just bring Lita down right now. I have a better idea. Why
don't I buy you a box of Kleenex, a carton of Hagan Daz. I'll take you to
Blockbuster Video then you can rent the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya
Sisterhood. Go home and have a really good cry. What do you think about
that, Junior? "

Cyclops was in the first two movies!? Can anyone verify this? He
must've been one of the extras in the Wolverine scenes.

Just out of curiosity, would she be a naked human?

To be honest I could do with less Wolverine especially as Jackman is
reportedly looking into a Wolverine film.

The Storm thing is a good idea, still not sure about Berry though, but
the character is a leadewr. The love triangle is just idiotic, IMO.
You already have that with, Scott, Jean and Wolverine why the hell are
they substituting another one.

I would've liked to see Collossus in this one.

Pardon me for pointing out the blindingly obvious but I don't recall seeing
X-men 3 on the release list at my local Odeon. Don't you think it's better
to wait for the film to be released before you review the thing? You
obviously have a downer on the director and a hard on for Bryan Singer so do
us all a favour and shut up and let us make our own minds up !

If you're not interested in discussing rumors regarding the development of
X3 then don't. There's no reason others should have to drop a conversation
just because you don't want to participate.

No one's trying to make you discuss it. If you don't want to discuss it,
don't.

Someone posted the script, and that counts as fact. It's an earlier post if
you wanna read it.

Even assuming that it's the final script that's going to be used it's
still just words on paper and isn't representative of what it will be
like in movie form, especially for an action/special-effects movie
such as this. Also iirc only 2/3rds of the script was actually
critiqued.
